"DEFENDING THE ARMADA":
FLEET SAFTEY AWARENESS

"Defending The Armada" is designed to raise awareness of Safety Supervisors, Managers and Fleet Personnel. It examines the hazards of operating company vehicles on the open road, clarifies company and employee responsibilities of operation, motivates active identification of potential risks and seeks combined involvement in improving current safety guidelines and procedures.

Scenes Included in the Program:

DRIVING ON AUTOPILOT
This scene illustrates how the comfort of routine can inhibit safe behavior while operating a vehicle. The character explains that job-burnout, route familiarity, and pre-occupation with a marital problem has caused a decline in his performance.

MUTINY
A Fleet Supervisor laments that his personnel are not taking safety guidelines and procedures seriously. He feels that the drivers nod their heads in agreement during safety meetings, but out in the field, it's "every man for himself".

WOLF AT THE DOOR
The "ABC's" of safety are explored, using the proverb of barring the wolf from your door as a metaphor. This scene inspires greater employee adherence to guidelines and procedures.

GONE FISHING
There is a fine line between company and personal use of a vehicle. Listen as this employee tries to explain why the company mini-van is at the bottom of a lake!

DOA
A grieving spouse recounts how safety-minded her husband was, and how a momentary lapse of reason took him away from her.

A BOTTLE OF RUM
Abuse of alcohol and other drugs has become one of the most common causes of accidental death on the road. This scene encourages those who may have a problem to seek help through the proper channels before it becomes a life-threatening situation.
