THEATRE-BASED WORKSHOP
This theatre-based workshop builds your skills in Conflict Resolution. Designed to fit in a two-hour workshop, this interactive program is led by David Kersnar, former Artistic Director of the nationally acclaimed Lookingglass Theatre Company. Combining innovative theatre role-play exercises with case-study scenarios, the participants in this workshop learn how to manage conflict by mastering techniques that disarm volatile situations. Workshop Content:
- Interactive Case Study Scenarios
Live performers enact scenes of conflict relating to the work environment. The action stops at various moments, allowing workshop participants to analyze the situation and interact with the performers.
- Active Listening Techniques and Exercises
Participants learn active listening tools and communication techniques through series of interpersonal exercises in a large group and in pairs.
- Steps to Resolving Conflict
Participants learn to identify behaviors that escalate conflict, then a series of steps to defuse conflict is provided. Participants are given an opportunity to exercise these skills with live performers in argumentative scenarios.
- Group Brainstorming Discussion
Participants will evaluate both individual behavior and systemic problems to generate ideas to reduce streams of conflict, and how to apply them in their daily activities as conflict arises.
