"INTERVENTION THEATRE II":
ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG (AOD)
TRAINING FOR SUPERVISORS

"Intervention Theatre II" is an educational tool for assistance in recognizing a troubled employee, effective documentation, and a non-threatening style of referral to the Employee Assistance Program. Supervisory training discourages managers from diagnosing an individual's problem, while motivating them to intervene early when a decline in job productivity is observed.

Scenes Included in the Program:

SYMPTOMATIC SHUFFLE
If someone is so depressed he is losing his hair, does Rogaine solve the problem? This scene dramatizes certain individuals who choose to cure the symptom, leaving its root cause to fester.

END OF THE LINE
One co-worker helps a buddy's productivity by offering the "cocaine advantage". Suddenly, the company adopts a mandatory drug testing policy and the chase is on.

I'M SO EMBARRASSED
It is important not to diagnose a troubled employee. This illustration clarifies why specialized training is needed to delineate a substance abuse problem from other causes of duress.

WHAT WE ALL WANT
An employee, once eager to serve, finds his heart no longer in it. His job burnout and declining performance dramatizes the importance of early intervention to discourage abuse.

DEADLY PURCHASE
A young woman, unable to break a cycle of stress, financial difficulty and family problems, turns to drugs and alcohol on her path toward suicide.

ALTERNATIVES
A supervisor's non-threatening "supportive confrontation" encourages a troubled employee's participation in the company's E.A.P.

DO'S AND DON'TS
The steps portrayed here for making a referral to the Employee Assistance Program can assist in making the process more positive for all involved.

BRAD IS BACK
The characters from "End of the Line" reappear, illustrating the fears and anxieties experienced by someone returning to work after treatment.
